Ballet Classes Victoria

Welcome to Essentially Ballet ....

About Our School

Essentially Ballet is a dance school with a difference.

Not only do we offer high calibre dance training, we encourage our students to be high achievers, by guiding them to develop self-confidence and a belief in their own ability.

We use the natural love and enjoyment in movement, so obvious in young children, and nurture this to draw out the full potential in each child.

Our carefully developed training programmes, encompassing the pre-school years to full-time vocational training, are designed to address the learning needs of students at each stage of their development. Each level builds purposefully from the previous level, adopting the principals of russian Vaganova classical ballet methodology, resulting in charismatic dancers exhibiting both artistic and technical excellence.

From the very youngest levels, we make learning to dance a joyful experience. We promote a friendly atmosphere in our studios, creating a shared camaraderie and trust between students and teachers.

For the dedicated ballet students with the passion and focus to pursue a career in dance, we offer both physical and intellectual challenges through advanced training programmes, to enable them to reach their full potential.

Whatever the aim of the student, from Baby Ballerinas to Graduate Students, we welcome dancers of all backgrounds, talents and abilities. We are here to support you on a journey of self-discovery and joy in dance.

On this site you’ll discover all you need to know about what makes Essentially Ballet the right place for your dance education.

Linda McKay

Our first year began with 17 students, in a dilapidated Scout Hall with no windows, no heating and no cooling, and shared change rooms with the local football club!!!

With an enrolment of around 80 students at the end of the following year, we moved to the Uniting Church in Watsonia, with spacious modern facilities, where we remained for 6 years.

In 2009 we moved into our own purpose built studio in Watsonia.

The school continues to grow and flourish each year.
