Dance is a vehicle to explore who are, to BELIEVE in yourself and reach for the stars. In a SUPPORTIVE environment, your child will be nurtured and their INDIVIDUALITY will be celebrated. You will be welcomed and guided through the world of dance with your child.
Whatever the aim of your dancer from Tiny Toes to Pre-Professional levels, we welcome dancers of all backgrounds, talents and abilities. We are here to support you on a journey of self-discovery and joy in dance.
If your child is a dedicated dance student with the passion and focus to pursue a career in dance, either Ballet or Musical Theatre & theatrical styles, they will be given physical and intellectual challenges to enable them to reach their full potential. Each level builds purposefully from the previous level, resulting in charismatic dancers exhibiting both artistic and technical excellence.
We use the natural love and enjoyment in movement, so obvious in young children, and nurture this to draw out the full potential in your child. The curriculum includes 14 levels of classical ballet and complementary dance styles including: hip hop, tap dance, jazz, contemporary, acrobatics and musical theatre (sing, act & dance).
Your dancer will be welcomed into the friendly atmosphere in our studios, with a shared camaraderie and trust between students, teachers and parents.
On this site you’ll discover all you need to know about what makes Essentially Dance the right place for your dance education. We love to share our knowledge, so please contact us for more information.

Under the Direction of Linda McKay, Essentially Ballet began in Rosanna in 2001, moving to Watsonia in September 2002. Our first year began with 17 students, in a dilapidated Scout Hall with no windows, no heating and no cooling, and shared change rooms with the local football club!!! With an enrolment of around 80 students at the end of the following year, we moved to the Uniting Church in Watsonia, with spacious modern facilities, where we remained for 6 years. In 2009 we moved into our own purpose built studio in Watsonia. The school continues to grow and flourish each year.
